COVID Identified, Parents Called, School Open

November 11, 2020 -- A positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at École Wascana Plains.

In consultation with Public Health, close-contacts will be identified and called directly. A close contact is someone who has been within two metres (six feet) of someone for a cumulative 15 minutes.

Close-contacts will have to isolate for 14 days. Families who are not called, are not close-contacts and do not have to self-isolate.

The school will be open for all other students on Wednesday, November 12, 2020. School families will receive more details then.

U-Turn - We Ticket

Today’s School Zone Safety lesson is brought to you by the Letter “U”, and a recent increase in illegal U-Turns in Regina school zones.

1)    U cannot make a U-turn in a school zone.

2)    If U do, U are breaking a law: the Regina Traffic Bylaw.

3)    If U do, U could put nearby pedestrians and school children at risk.

4)    U also risk getting into a collision that carries the possibility of injury/property damage to U or others.

5)    U could also get a ticket.

6)    If U get a ticket, U may have to pay hundreds of dollars, which means you have less $$ for things U really wanted to buy.

7)    Remember U are a role model to other drivers and school-age children, who will be parents and drivers someday.

Class Closure due to COVID-19

October 29, 2020 -- On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, the Saskatchewan Health Authority informed us that there was one case of COVID-19 in a student at École Wascana Plains School.

For the safety of students and staff, and in consultation with Public Health, we have closed the affected classroom until November 9 and students in that classroom will be participating in remote learning until they return to school.

Affected families will be contacted directly regarding the classroom closure and remote learning.

If there are any additional close contacts at the school, they will be contacted directly by Public Health. A close contact is someone who has been within two metres (six feet) of someone for a cumulative 15 minutes.

Immunizations

In alignment with Public Health messaging, the Government of Saskatchewan supports immunization as the best way to protect children from many diseases. Immunization protects individuals, families and communities by preventing the spread of disease. In Saskatchewan, immunization programs for young children are provided by public health nurses through local public health clinics. For school-aged students, public health nurses may deliver immunizations in school settings. The Ministry of Health has developed an informational document, Immunization Resources, that can assist parents in answering questions related to their child’s immunization.
