A couple events to mark on your calendar:
Wednesday, August 30 – Bring Your Backpack Night
Please plan on coming out for an evening at Wascana Plains. Bring a blanket and picnic with your family on the school grounds (several food trucks will be parked in the parking lot) and then tour the school, meet your teacher, and drop off your backpack in your new classroom.
September 14 – School Community Council
The first Wascana Plains SCC meeting and election will be held at the school at 7:00. All parents are welcome! For more information about the council please visit http://www.rbe.sk.ca/resources/school-community-councils.
July 15 – Paint Nite
Please come support our school fundraising efforts by attending next week’s Paint Nite. Information can be found on our school website – wascanaplains.rbe.sk.ca. Please spread the word with friends and family!
July 28/29 – Garage Sale
The committee (Wendy Ottenson, Jessica O’Donnell, Lisa Kress) are working hard to bring the community together in support of Wascana Plains playground, and we are looking for your support.
VOLUNTEERING
We are reaching out in search of volunteers for the following dates and jobs:
July 28th
4:00 PM- 8:00 PM
Location: Hawrylak Elementary School
Volunteer positions: Receiving items at the door, Sorting and pricing items, setting up canteen, check out, face painting and raffle area
July 29th
7:30 AM-9:00 PM
Location: Hawrylak Elementary School
Volunteer positions: Receiving items at the door, Sorting and pricing items, setting up canteen, check out, face painting and raffle area, BBQ
8:45 AM-12:30 PM
Location: Hawrylak Elementary School
Volunteer Positions:
Face painting: We are searching for some older kids from the school, and adults, to assist with face painting. This will be a great way for the older group to meet each other, and be a part of their school community.
Canteen: Working canteen and taking payment, this could be an older student and adult
Floaters: Volunteers to assist in answering questions and general inquiries. This position will be to walk around, assist people to their vehicles, and to price guarantee (you will be able to adjust pricing as you see fit)
BBQ: BBQ hot dogs outside the building
12:15 PM-4:00 PM

Many people have been interested in donating items to the garage sale, and we would like to have an idea of how many items to expect. This will assist us in recruiting the correct number of volunteers. If you are donating items to this AMAZING COMMUNITY EVENT, please email wascanaplainsgaragesale@gmail.com
RAFFLE ITEMS
The Committee has secured a few raffle items for the garage sale. If you, or your business, are interested in donating an item for the raffle area we would love to hear from you.
