Welcome to May!

Hard to believe it is May 1!

1.  Mark your calendars for some important June events.  Our Grade 8 Farewell will be Thursday, June 21 and an end of the year celebration and BBQ, hosted by the SCC (School Community Council), will be June 27th.

2.  A Grade 4-8 school track meet will occur on May 30th.  Students who qualify at the school level will then compete on June 11th in a multi-school meet at Douglas Park.

3.  U-turns continue to be a problem on Green Brooks Way.  Although technically not illegal, they are dangerous with so many young children crossing the street.  Good news is that the city is working with us and a new bylaw is in the works to make all U-turns in school zones illegal starting in the fall.  Please do your part now and drive around the block!

4.  Statements are coming home and we ask that you log in to your CashOnline account and pay any owing amount by May 25th.  Please note that the 'lunchroom' fee may indicate 0.00 but it may still be owing as it requires you to choose full-time ($100), part-time ($50) or the family fee ($200).

5.  The Dairy Queen has opened and it has students asking about going out for lunch. Any student registered in a lunchroom has to have a dated permission slip from you if they want to leave the school for lunch.  Students will need to give the note to their lunchroom supervisor prior to being dismissed.  We also ask that all food purchased from DQ be eaten prior to returning to school.

6.  May 18th is our kindergarten orientation (2-3 PM) if you know of someone in the area who has yet to register.  We already have 75 kindergarten students registered for September!

Enjoy the sunshine!
