Good afternoon parents!

1.  Sports are in full swing at Wascana Plains with both volleyball teams and the cross-country team training several times a week.  Many students have submitted applications to the United Bison Council (our student council) and the team will be selected next week. We look forward to seeing what leadership they provide to our school family.

2.  Ecole Wascana Plains is a member of No Child Without, a program offered by Medic Alert, that provides children with one free MedicAlert medical ID bracelet between the ages of 4 and 14.  If interested please visit medicalert.ca.

3.  You will have received information regarding the hiring of more staff for our English program: Erin Schmidt in grade 1/2 and Crystal Bray (Specialist).  You will receive an email or phone call Monday afternoon if your child is affected by this new classroom. The new classrooms will take effect Wednesday.

4.  Reminder:  If your child is registered as a full-time lunchroom attender he/she must produce a note to their lunchroom supervisor excusing their absence prior to leaving the school.  Please use the agenda and/or paper note as homeroom teachers do not have time to relay emails to supervisors when they are teaching.

5.  You may have noticed that we received new sod prior to the first day of school.  The initial sod was deemed unsalvageable so new sod was installed by the original contractor.  We await fencing but until that time please discourage your children from being on the grass if you use the school grounds after hours. We want this to be the last time we have to sod!

6.  Families who use the transportation service are encouraged to get the app and okay receiving notifications to their email.  This service will allow you to know when a bus is late (as it was a couple times this week).  You will be able to track the bus and not have to worry if you missed the bus and/or make other arrangements.

7.  The School Community Council meets next Thursday at 7:00 if you are interested in joining us.  We meet in a studio on the second floor.

8.  We had many drills this week (prompting one Kindergarten child to say "Do we have to do this every day!"):  a bus evacuation, 2 fire drills and a lockdown with several police officers.  The students did a wonderful job with these safety drills.

Have a good weekend!
