March Around the Corner!

Good afternoon families,

1.  Please join us March 14th at 7PM for the ICE (Internet Child Exploitation) presentation.  We'll meet on the presentation stairs. This event is being hosted by your School Community Council who meets one Thursday per month and meetings are always open to all parents.  Our next meeting is tomorrow, February 28th at 7 in Studio 2 if you are interested in attending.

2.  Our population continues to grow!  As of today we have surpassed 600!

3.  We are accepting kindergarten registrations for 2019-2020 so if you know of someone with a child born in 2014 please encourage them to contact the school.  The sooner we know numbers the sooner we can plan for their arrival.  We will host a kindergarten orientation session for parents on May 14th at 4:30.

4.  Please follow us on Twitter!  We have so many teachers now using Twitter, sharing the wonderful things going on at our school and encourage you to keep in touch.  @WascanaPlains

5.  Next Friday, March 8th, is our Celebration of Learning.  Much like conferences, students are only expected to come for a visit with their parents.  There will not be regular classes that day.  We suggest you allow 20-30 minutes for the classroom visit but will also have a Scholastic Book Fair in Studio 1 if you have extra time.  The celebration will run 8:30-4:15 with an hour break at lunch (11:45-12:45).  Please stop in at the office if you need to update your contact information, request a Parent Portal username/password and/or have a question for the office staff.

6.  Lunch cutlery - Please be advised that we are no longer providing plastic cutlery to students as of this week.  We were encouraging students to wash the cutlery at home and then keep it in the lunch kit for future use but the demand has increased, averaging 15 pieces a day, something we can not continue to do.  If a student's lunch requires a fork or spoon please provide one in the lunch kit.

Hard to believe we are at the end of February - if only the winter could end with it!

See you next Friday,

Mme Revet
